Behind the Scenes: A Lifestyle Shoot for See Me Be Toys

I recently worked on a lifestyle shoot for See Me Be Toys, focusing on capturing their adorable toys in action. The shoot took place at the founder's home, with her little girls as the models, and it was such a fun and creative experience. I thought I’d share some of the images and a few tips from the day that might be helpful for anyone planning a similar shoot.

Shooting at the Founder’s Home

The founder's home was a beautiful space, and while I didn’t have a chance to check it out before the shoot, it all came together wonderfully. On the day of the shoot, I had to think on my feet and adapt to the setting, which is always a great opportunity to get creative!

Tip: If possible, try to schedule a quick visit to the location before the shoot. It can help you plan any furniture rearranging or props you might want to bring along. For this shoot, I felt a rug would have been a nice touch to soften the warm wooden floors, and with a bit more prep, I could’ve brought one. That said, I managed to add a bit of texture in post-production, but it’s always easier to get it right on the day!

Creative Composition for Privacy

Since we wanted to keep the girls’ faces out of the shots, I got to play around with some creative compositions. It was all about finding the right angles to showcase the toys while keeping the girls’ identities private.

Tip: Before the shoot, I spent some time brainstorming and planning out shots that would naturally hide their faces while still highlighting the toys. I also brought a printed mood board with me, just in case I needed a little inspiration during the shoot. This kind of prep work can make things run smoothly and help you capture the right moments.

Working with Kids: Keeping it Fun

Working with kids is always a bit of an adventure, but these little ones were fantastic! Still, it’s important to keep the energy up and the experience fun for them.

Tip: I found that giving the girls a bit of direction but also letting them play naturally with the dolls led to some of the best shots. Turning it into a game where they’d “freeze” in place when I called out was another fun trick that gave me a bit more time to get the perfect shot. It’s all about keeping things light and letting the kids’ natural energy shine through.

Below is a gallery of my favorite images from this lifestyle shoot. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed capturing these moments.
